The Jadwet umbrella today proudly encompasses several diversified businesses and has become a formidable presence in the Andaman. Their interests involve a plethora of sectors- most notably Tourism and Hospitality wherein the family lays claim to several ranges of hotels in Port Bair, Havelock and Neil( J Hotel, Hotel Marine View, Wild Orchid,Emerald Gecko, Flying Elephant), an adventure tourism venture (Andaman Bubbles) and a travel agency (Island Travels). Shipping is also a primary concern, with both passenger (Makruzz), cargo ferries (MAK Logistics) and a Shipping agency (RSTI). It is vital to note the extent of impact generated by India’s first catamaran Makruzz which brought about a sea change in tourism in the islands. A ground-breaking venture nation-wide, Makruzz continues to set hospitality and service standards and is synonymous to travelling in luxury. The immense success has prompted the proprietors to acquire another vessel viz. Makruzz Gold. Apart from this, Logistics and Trade continue to be at the heart of the business, with Clearing and Forwarding Agencies and Warehousing, alongside Dealerships and Retail outlets of several fortune 500 multinationals such as Indian Oil Corporation, Everready, Godrej, FMCG interests with Hindustan Unilever, Nestle, Britannia and Pepsi and Automobile with Mahindra & Mahindra. Long standing relations with mammoth companies and a thriving business model locally which has stood the test of time, is indeed a reflection of the business ethics and more than that the Jadwet family has fostered these undertakings over the years. Among the second generation more of the family, Mohammed Jadwet has become a prominent flag bearer – Past President of ACCI. Anex-member of LG’s Administrative Advisory Council, Honorary Warden of US Consulate, member Quantumai of State sports Council and Awardee of LG’s Commendation Certificate are among his many accolades. Gulam Hussain Jadwet, Chairman Haj Committee and Mr. Yakub Mohammedy, ex-chairman Waqf Board and Charter President, Rotary Club of Port Blair – are other notable individuals who went above and beyond their business capacity and contributed to the social welfare of the islands.

For Jadwets, since the day they landed on Andaman for the first time, this island has turned out to be their own abode.

While the Jadwets’ among others, paved the way for thriving commerce in the islands through their rare foresight and pioneering ventures, the family also categorically acknowledges that these successes would not have been probable elsewhere.
